Squadron Leader (Retd.)



Squadron Leader Toolika Rani is a multi-faceted personality, having left a powerful imprint in various fields. During her ten years career in Indian Air Force she served as an Air Traffic Controller. Seeing her leadership qualities and impressive achievements in the field of adventure sports, she was appointed as a Military Training Instructor in the prestigious Air Force Academy. She had the privilege to train the would be officers in weapon craft, jungle survival, route marches, parade, sports and supervise their overall transformation into officers. She was also associated with the training of India’s first three women fighter pilots.


As a Mountaineer, she has done 23 Mountaineering and Trekking expeditions in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Iran, Russia and Africa. She holds the distinction to be the first woman from divided Uttar Pradesh to climb the highest mountain- Mt. Everest. She is the first Indian woman to climb Asia’s highest Volcano – Mt. Damavand in Iran. And, part of the first team in the world to successfully climb a virgin peak in Himachal Pradesh. Her other expeditions include Mt. Kilimanjaro- highest peak of Africa, Mt. Elbrus- highest peak of Europe, Mt. Tochal- Iran, Mt. Stok Kangri, Mt. SaserKangri –Leh, Mt. Bhagirathi –2, Mt. Kamet- Uttrakhand, Mt. Nun- Kashmir and Mt. Kanamo- Himachal Pradesh. She has also dabbled in River rafting, Mountain Trail Running and Parasailing.


She has been awarded Rani Laxmibai Bravery Award by Uttar Pradesh government and Hindustan Times Woman Award.“Delhi Ratan” and “Meerut Ratan Award” from All India Conference of Intellectuals. “Global Woman Award” by FICCI LadiesOrganisation, and Prathma, Women Achievers Award by Amar Ujala.

She loves to extensively read and write and her articles on adventure sports and travel are regularly published in newspapers and magazines. As a motivational Speaker, she has inspired students, management professionals and aspiring talent in every field through lectures and presentations around the country. An ardent supporter of women rights, she intends to set ever higher standards of women’s capabilities, change perceptions, inspire and support many more to rise for their rights and achieve their dreams.

Based in Lucknow, she now climbs and travels extensively. Her achievements have been chronicled in The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Deccan Chronicle, Amar Ujala, DainikBhaskar, Pink Khabar, Ombrelane, Get Beyond Limits, Inspire Crew websites etc. TV Channel Samachar Plus recently aired an exclusive interview with her in the Queens Show.
