JIPMER DESCRIPTION

JIPMER is an institute established by a Parliament Act in 2008. The institution houses one administrative block, one academic center, one nursing college, seven hospital blocks, seven accessory services buildings and four residential complexes. 12 broad types of medical, nursing and allied health science courses covering all disciplines in healthcare from basic to super specialty training are conducted. The institution is now empowered to Award Medical Degree.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Candidates applying for JIPMER MBBS must be at least 17 years of age. As per the JIPMER eligibility criteria 2019, there is no upper age limit for the entrance exam. It must be noted that there will be no relaxation in lower age limit given to any candidate under any circumstances, irrespective of his/her category.

  2. Aspirants of JIPMER MBBS must pass the qualifying examination meaning Class 12 examination or an equivalent examination after 12 years of study. Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology in the last two years of study and English as a core subject. OCI/NRI candidates who have not completed Class 12 from the country will be required to submit an Eligibility Certificate from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. 

  3. As per the eligibility criteria of JIPMER MBBS 2019, the qualifying marks has been decreased for each category. This year, a EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category has also been added. In order to be eligible for JIPMER 2019, the qualifying percentile for Unreserved and EWS category has been decreased from 60% to 50%. While for SC/ST/OBC/PwD and Unreserved-PwD candidates, it is 40% and 45%, respectively.

2. CHEMISTRY

Surface Chemistry, Biomolecules, Electrochemistry, Alcohols, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acid Phenols & Ethers, D & F Block Elements, P Block Elements, Halo Alkanes and Haloarenes Solutions, Solid State, Polymers, Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen, Chemistry in Everyday Life Chemical Kinetics, Coordination Compounds Isolation of Elements.

3. BIOLOGY

Cell Structure and Function Structural Organization in Plants and Animals, Human Physiology Biotechnology, Diversity in Living Organisms Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Warfare Plant Physiology, Ecology and Environment.

4. ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND COMPREHENSIVE

Section A: Reading Unseen Passages and Note-Making, Section B: Writing Skills, Section C: Literature and Long Reading

5. LOGIC & QUANTITATIVE REASONING
